    • Complex Home modifications can range from 20-30 total hours of OT, stretching across a total time span of 3-6 months from the first visit to final sign off.

  • Following a home assessment, modifications may be recommended. These changes can help you continue to live safely and independently, support ongoing participation in daily activities, reduce current or future hazards, or simply refresh your home’s appearance.

    Our goals when implementing home modifications are to:

    • Improve the environment across all required areas of the home.

    • Support greater independence, participation and function in everyday occupations.

    • Minimise safety risks now and in the future.

    • Provide cosmetic updates where desired.

    We coordinate with local councils, tradespeople, property owners, landlords and other stakeholders to ensure modifications are fit for purpose and comply with relevant Australian Standards, including:

    • AS 1684 — Residential Timber Framed Construction

    • AS 1428 — Design for Access and Mobility

  • Simple home modifications are cost-effective and easy to install.

    These include:

    • Non-Slip flooring.

    • Installing safety hinges on a toilet door.

    • Magnetic door catch.

    • Bath Seat.

    • Lever taps.

    • Step wedges.

    • Hi-visibility paint on steps or ramps.

    • Seat/Couch raiser.

    • Doorbell.

  • Note: Otway Projects does not offer complex home modifications at this point in time. Please seek these services elsewhere.

    Complex modifications may involve structural changes that require a greater level of skill and expertise. 

    These include:

    • Large access ramps

    • Complex engineered handrails

    • Widening of doorways

    • Modifying steps within a home

    • Adapting external pathways

    • Lowering kitchen and bathroom bench tops

    • Changing a bathroom, such as installing an open level-entry shower

    • Automatic door openers

    • New hand basins to increase accessibility
